Salcha is located at 64°31′14″N, 147°0′41″W (64.520455, -147.011452)[1].The village was first reported in 1898 by the U.S. Geological Survey as "Salchaket," a native name meaning "the mouth of Salcha." It is about 40 miles (64 km) south of Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway. It is next to the Salcha River, a popular fishing destination. Salcha has its own Post Office. The ZIP code for Salcha, Alaska is 99714.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 74.2 square miles (192.2 km²), of which, 72.1 square miles (186.6 km²) of it is land and 2.2 square miles (5.6 km²) of it (2.92%) is water.
Salcha River is a tributary of Tanana River. Salcha River starts in the Sitz Mountains(Tanana Hills) and flows into Tanana.
